Aug. 20 - Most of the time, headlines put Italy in first place for negative ratings, but sometimes even this country can boast. Today, Italy is the country with greater energy efficiency in Europe, with a -19% of primary energy intensity compared to the EU average. The results were put forth by Avvenia (www.avvenia.com), a leader in the field of White Economy and environmental sustainability, which observes how "Italy made energy efficiency a top priority, and is now a model for other countries." The findings are supported by the 2014 Energy Efficiency Scorecard, the list drawn up by the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) that assigns a score to each country on energy efficiency on a 100-point scale in 31 categories. According to the scorecard, in the "transport" category, Italy is in first place; Italy shares first place with France for the "attentiveness to energy policy issues." Italy also reaches second place in the average of all categories, beating the United States, which this year ranked thirteenth.
AVVENIA
Avvenia was established in 2001, when electricity supply was liberalized. Over the years, Avvenia evolved with the field’s regulatory framework and has since established itself as an ESCO, an energy savings company. Avvenia continues an important dialogue with the Italian Authority for Electricity and Gas and with ENEA, both relationships that consolidate its leading position in the market, with particular reference to industrial processes. The company is an active member the Italian Federation for the Rational Use of Energy and of the National ESCO Federation. Avvenia is also specialized in energy audits and certification of industrial, commercial and collective structures (schools, universities, banks, government agencies, etc.).
