Jan. 22 - The Falstaff staged by the Teatro Regio di Parma is ready for Oman. The event set up by Stephen Medcalf for the 2011 Verdi Festival, with sets and costumes by Jamie Vartan, was chosen by the Accademia della Scala to debut on Jan. 29-30 at the Royal Opera House in Muscat. The House opened in 2011 with a preview of the Teatro Regio’s Rigoletto by Pierluigi Samaritani. The tour of the Accademia della Scala accompanies the orchestra and choir of the Teatro Regio. "This new challenge - comment the representatives of the Parma choir - is one of the many prestigious productions that our choir undertakes in Italy and abroad. Our business seamlessly continues thanks to a dense network of relationships built over the years and a thorough promotional process that allows us to bring the name of the Teatro Regio di Parma around the world. 2014 saw us take the stage with the chorus of the Opéra de Monte Carlo, for Roméo et Juliette. This coming March, before returning to the stage of our theater for L’Elisir d’Amore, we will perform with the National Rai Orchestra for Les pêcheurs de perles." "The Accademia Teatro alla Scala - explains Daniele Borniquez, head of the music department of the Academy - continues the fruitful collaboration with the Teatro Regio di Parma, with whom it celebrated the bicentenary of the birth of Giuseppe Verdi by performing the Falstaff. On that occasion, we laid the basis for the continuation of the experience, and we’re now bringing the production at the Royal Opera House in Muscat, an emerging theater in the Middle East, where the Academy and the Orchestra have already performed."

THE PRODUCTION
The choir of the Teatro Regio di Parma will be directed by Maestro Martino Faggiani. Young solo singers, such as Piero Terranova in the role of Falstaff, will take the stage. The production is directed by Pietro Mianiti, principal conductor of the Orchestra of the Accademia della Scala. The performance of the Teatro Regio in Oman follows the one at the Palau de las Arts Reina Sofia in Valencia, where last November they staged Manon Lescaut in the Stephen Medcalf setting. Following the residency in Oman, the group will debut Rigoletto by Pierluigi Samaritani at the Opera Nikikai of Tokyo on February 19.
