Bogotá – Human trafficking is a serious violation of human rights, affecting thousands of people—especially women and children, but also men and minors in vulnerable situations. The forms of exploitation vary widely, from sexual exploitation and forced labor to coerced begging, organ trafficking, and recruitment for criminal activities.
Given the urgency and complexity of the issue, an integrated and coordinated approach is needed among states, international organizations, and civil society. This first meeting aims to deepen the discussion, foster a network among professionals and consulates, and define shared and effective strategies.
On Tuesday, April 15, at 5:30 PM, the IILA – Italo-Latin American International Organization in Rome will host the roundtable discussion "Human Trafficking: Understanding, Preventing, Protecting, and Combating the Phenomenon" in the Fanfani Hall. Organized in collaboration with the Embassies of Colombia and Chile in Italy, the event inaugurates a series of discussions aimed at promoting dialogue and cooperation among Latin American embassies in Italy on the trafficking of Latin American citizens in Italy and Europe.
