Italian troops play key role in NATO exercise in Georgia

Krtsanisi – Italian Ambassador to Georgia, Massimiliano D’Antuono, welcomed the delegation of the Vittorio Veneto Division to the Italian residence in appreciation of their professionalism during the NATO-Georgia 2025 exercise. The training took place from April 28 to May 8 at the NATO-Georgia Joint Training and Evaluation Center in Krtsanisi.

The exercise brought together Georgian defense forces and those of 16 NATO member and partner countries, including Italy, Bulgaria, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia, Turkey, the UK, the US, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Moldova, and Tunisia.

The Vittorio Veneto Division, based in Florence, will serve as Land Component Command of the Allied Reaction Force starting July 1. During the exercise, the division acted as High Control (HICON), contributing to the training of Georgia’s 1st Brigade. Of the 19 Italian officers, non-commissioned officers, and enlisted personnel involved, three integrated directly into the Georgian command structure.

This is the fourth edition of the NATO-Georgia exercise, part of the Substantial NATO-Georgia Package (SNGP), which began in 2016.
