Kuala Lumpur – For the first time, Anwar Ibrahim’s influential book The Asian Renaissance is now available in Italian, nearly three decades after its original release in 1996. The book, which remains highly relevant in light of Asia’s growing global influence and Malaysia’s rising role, has been translated and published by Anteo Edizioni.
During the Malaysian Prime Minister’s recent visit to Rome—where he held high-level meetings with Italian business leaders to strengthen bilateral cooperation—a copy of the newly translated volume was presented to him. The handover was attended by Stefano Bonilauri, director of Anteo Edizioni, and Domenico Palmieri, Secretary General of ISIA.
“The book, written more than twenty years ago, speaks to the rebirth of Asian civilization through the values of knowledge, culture, openness, and justice, as a response to global imbalance and the dominance of Western discourse,” Anwar Ibrahim wrote on his social media channels.
“I deeply appreciate the dedication of the Italian scholar who made this translation possible,” he added. “This effort is more than just a translation—it’s a bridge between thoughts and ideas, helping to close the gap in understanding between East and West, particularly in a world that feels increasingly divided.” Anwar currently leads the progressive and multiethnic coalition Pakatan Harapan.
