London – Michele Chiarlo, one of Piedmont’s most iconic wineries, has been awarded the prestigious title of European Producer of the Year at the 2025 edition of the Sommelier Wine Awards (SWA), the UK’s premier competition dedicated exclusively to wines for the hospitality and fine dining sectors. All five wines submitted by the winery received medals, including two golds. The standout was the Gavi di Gavi Rovereto 2023, which earned a gold medal along with two special distinctions: Critics’ Choice, awarded to wines that impress the judges for their personality and style regardless of price or category, and By the Glass, highlighting wines that offer excellent value and versatility for wine-by-the-glass programs. The full list of awarded wines includes: Gavi DOCG del Comune di Gavi Rovereto 2023 – Gold Medal, Critics’ Choice, By the Glass; Nizza DOCG Riserva La Court 2021 – Gold Medal; Nizza DOCG Cipressi 2022 – Silver Medal; Barolo DOCG Cerequio 2019 – Silver Medal; Barbera d’Asti DOCG Le Orme 2022 – Bronze Medal. Wines at the SWA are evaluated through blind tastings by a highly qualified panel of experts, including Master Sommeliers, Masters of Wine, leading buyers, and consultants from the HORECA industry. “We are extremely proud to receive this recognition,” said Alberto Chiarlo, co-owner and marketing and sales director. “It’s not just about the individual wines, but a testament to the consistency and identity of our work, rooted in great terroirs and a style that resonates with the world of gastronomy.”
