Addis Ababa – Italy has issued a commemorative stamp to mark the 25th anniversary of the African Union’s Constitutive Act. The unveiling ceremony took place at the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy, led by Minister Adolfo Urso and Undersecretary of State for Philately Fausta Bergamotto, with the participation of Poste Italiane, ambassadors, and delegates from 19 African Union member states.
“This stamp is part of our country’s collective memory. The African Union has not only successfully pursued social and economic integration on the continent but has also been a credible partner for Italy and Europe,” said Minister Urso. “Our role has grown stronger thanks to a multilateral vision. The Mattei Plan embodies this approach, aiming to establish a new paradigm of equal partnership with Africa.”
The stamp design depicts the African Union headquarters in Addis Ababa, symbolizing the historic milestone of unity, self-determination, and progress for the continent. The artwork was created by the African Union Commission and finalized by Italy’s State Printing Works and Mint.
