FVG Governor Fedriga praises Italian students honored at the UN

New York – Friuli Venezia Giulia Governor Massimiliano Fedriga met today with students and teachers from the Istituto Superiore Enrico Mattei of Latisana and Lignano Sabbiadoro, who took part for the second consecutive year in the NHSMUN – National High School Model United Nations project in the United States.
The NHSMUN is the world’s largest diplomatic simulation for students, involving around 5,000 participants from over 100 countries in its two annual sessions.
This year, the Mattei Institute, led by principal Angela Napolitano, achieved a remarkable distinction by winning the Research and Preparation Award of Distinction — an honor granted to only five schools per session, almost all of them American. In the spring session, the Latisana school was the only Italian institution recognized, standing out for its preparation and excellence.
At a ceremony held at the Trieste Regional Palace, Governor Fedriga presented certificates of merit to the students. “Few Italian schools manage to earn recognition of this level in the United States,” he said. “The experience these students have gained is a tangible example of the innovation and dedication of the Mattei school’s teachers and leadership — a lifelong asset that may open new opportunities for their future.”
Fedriga also thanked the students for representing the region abroad: “With your commitment and preparation, you have carried the name of Friuli Venezia Giulia with pride, showing that our region continues to achieve international excellence.”
