Obergurgl – Italy’s slalom teams have returned from Finland and are now preparing for the second slalom races of the season, scheduled this weekend on the Kirchenkar slope in Obergurgl, Austria. Unlike the usual calendar order, the men will open the programme on Saturday, 22 November (first run at 10:30, second at 13:30), while the women will race on Sunday, 23 November, at the same times. Both events will be broadcast live by Rai and Eurosport.
Representing Italy in the men’s race are Alex Vinatzer, Tommaso Sala, Tobias Kastlunger—who placed 13th on this slope in 2023—Matteo Canins, and Simon Maurberger, returning to the World Cup circuit.
The women’s lineup includes Giorgia Collomb, Lara Della Mea, Emilia Mondinelli, Beatrice Sola—21st here last year before an injury ended her season—Alice Pazzaglia, Giulia Valleriani, and Annette Belfrond. Absent are long-term injury cases, including Marta Rossetti and Martina Peterlini, though the latter is expected to be back on snow this week in Val Senales. (9colonne)
