Ambassador Peronaci in Florida to strengthen economic and commercial ties

Miami – Italy’s Ambassador to the United States, Marco Peronaci, wrapped up a three-day visit to Florida on Thursday, 20 November, accompanied by Italy’s Consul General in Miami, Michele Mistò. The mission followed a meeting held earlier in the week in Washington with Governor Ron DeSantis, during which both sides agreed to deepen the already solid cooperation between Italy and Florida. Particular emphasis was placed on boosting collaboration in the economic, cultural, and science-and-technology sectors.
“There are increasingly integrated entrepreneurial, commercial and manufacturing ecosystems between Italy and Florida, with significant potential for further growth,” Ambassador Peronaci noted. “The meetings I’ve had over these days confirm a strong interest in Italy within one of the most dynamic and fastest-growing U.S. states. There are major opportunities for Italian companies, and the entire Sistema Italia stands ready to support them.”
During his stay in Miami, Peronaci visited the Freedom Tower - lit in green, white, and red in honor of Italy - before meeting Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava and PortMiami Director Hydi Webb. Together, they toured MSC’s passenger terminal, built by Fincantieri and currently the largest and most technologically advanced of its kind worldwide.
In Fort Lauderdale, the Ambassador visited the local headquarters of Azimut Benetti and Sanlorenzo Americas, two global leaders in the yachting industry. He then held a meeting with staff from the Consulate General, the Italian Cultural Institute, and the Italian Trade Agency, expressing his appreciation for their work and the results achieved, especially considering the rapid growth of the Italian community in the region - making Miami the second-largest Italian consulate in the United States by AIRE registrations.
The mission concluded with a roundtable with major companies operating in the U.S. Southeast, where Peronaci reiterated the institutions’ commitment to supporting Italian businesses in their international expansion.
