Algiers – The Embassy of Italy in Algiers and the Italian Cultural Institute of Algiers, in collaboration with students from the Department of Italian Studies at the University of Algiers 2 “Abou El Kacem Saâdallah,” will host the event “Women’s Voices for the Italian Republic (1946–2026)” on 7 June at 2 p.m. at the Institute’s premises. Eighty years after Italian women were granted the right to vote, the event will focus on memory, civic participation and the central role of women in the construction of Italian democracy. The programme will revisit key milestones in women’s emancipation and the birth of the Italian Republic through readings, film screenings and historical testimonies. It will also be accompanied by the photographic exhibition “Women of the Republic: Eighty Years of Achievements in ANSA News Reports (1946–2026),” drawn from the agency’s historical archives. The exhibition traces, through images and documents, the long path toward gender equality in Italy, from suffrage to major civil and social reforms. (9Colonne)
