Edinburgh – Twenty years after This Is What You Are introduced Mario Biondi’s distinctive warm, soulful voice to audiences in Italy and abroad, the singer is celebrating the anniversary of the song that became one of his signature hits and a modern soul-jazz classic. The success of the track paved the way for collaborations with artists such as Burt Bacharach, Chaka Khan and Earth, Wind & Fire. Over the past two decades, Biondi has earned multiple platinum records, recorded soundtracks for Disney productions and performed on some of the world’s most prestigious stages. To celebrate the milestone, a new version of the song, This Is What You Are (20th Anniversary) (Beyond/The Orchard), was released on digital platforms on September 12. The recording features an impressive lineup of internationally acclaimed jazz musicians, including Dennis Chambers on drums, John Patitucci on bass, Antonio Faraò on piano, Till Brönner on trumpet and Chase Baird on saxophone, alongside two of Biondi’s longtime collaborators, Massimo Greco on keyboards and Marco Fadda on percussion. The anniversary tour now heads to Scotland for two performances: June 9 at Queen’s Hall in Edinburgh and June 10 at St Luke’s in Glasgow. The Scottish leg of the tour is organized by Renegade Communications and International Music and Arts in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute in Edinburgh. (9colonne)
