Osor – As part of the Osor Musical Evenings Festival in Croatia, Italian pianist Alexander Gadjiev will perform on 2 August at 9 p.m. at the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The concert is organised in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute in Zagreb. The programme includes Ludwig van Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 21 in C major, Op. 53 ("Waldstein"), Tōru Takemitsu's Rain Tree Sketch II, Claude Debussy's L'Isle joyeuse and Modest Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition. Gadjiev is widely regarded as one of the leading pianists of his generation. Born into a family of musicians and piano teachers, he grew up in a multicultural environment where different languages, traditions and cultures came together, an experience that has profoundly shaped his artistic identity. He served as Cultural Ambassador for Gorizia–Nova Gorica European Capital of Culture 2025 and, in 2023, was awarded the Prešeren Prize, Slovenia's highest honour for artistic achievement. (9colonne)
