El Jem – The Orchestra Instabile di Arezzo will headline the two Italian concerts scheduled for 6 and 8 August at the El Jem International Symphony Music Festival, as part of the Italian Music Week organised by the Italian Embassy in Tunis and the Italian Cultural Institute to mark the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Italy and Tunisia. Conducted by Maestro Filippo Zambelli, the two performances will bring original productions to the Roman amphitheatre of El Jem, celebrating two defining aspects of Italy's musical heritage: great film music and the Neapolitan tradition, in an artistic dialogue linking memory, cultural heritage and the Mediterranean. The first concert, on 6 August, entitled "Cinecittà/Hollywood – Great Film Soundtracks", will take audiences on a journey through some of the most celebrated scores in Italian and international cinema. The programme pays tribute to legendary composers including Ennio Morricone, Nino Rota, Nicola Piovani, Henry Mancini and Leonard Bernstein, featuring music from iconic films such as Once Upon a Time in America, Life Is Beautiful, The Leopard, The Godfather and West Side Story. The concert is presented in collaboration with the Orchestra da Camera Fiorentina as part of the Boarding Pass Plus 2025–2027 project, an initiative of Italy's Ministry of Culture promoting international artistic mobility and the internationalisation of live music. On 8 August, the festival will present "Naples in the Mediterranean", also conducted by Maestro Filippo Zambelli and featuring soloists Gianni Bruschi, Loredana Carannante and Carlo Putelli. The programme explores the rich traditions of Neapolitan song, opera and folk music, presenting Naples as a cultural crossroads where Mediterranean languages, traditions and musical influences have long converged. The two concerts will bring to a close the Italian Music Summer, a festival running from 2 to 8 August that brings some of the leading performers of Italy's contemporary music scene to the international festivals of Hammamet, Carthage and El Jem.
