Paris - On September 9, the Italian Cultural Institute of Paris will host the cine-concert "Rapsodia Fantastica" at its headquarters. This innovative take on traditional Sicilian puppet theater (Opera dei Pupi) is produced by the Associazione Figli d’Arte Cuticchio, a historic theater company founded in Palermo in 1977 by Mimmo Cuticchio. The performance is divided into two acts: the first, "Quaderno di Danze e Battaglie dell’Opera dei Pupi," features the Giacomo Cuticchio Ensemble - led by Mimmo’s son, composer Giacomo, on piano, alongside saxophone, cello, violin, and trombone - delivering a evocative live soundtrack that brings chivalric battles to life. The second act, titled "Rapsodia Fantastica," sets live music to a documentary film by Chiara Andrich. Shot inside the Cuticchio workshop, the film captures every stage of crafting these iconic puppets, which are recognized as part of UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
