Chianti Wine Consortium heads to Canada for two-city promotional tour

Toronto — Chianti is returning to the spotlight in Canada late this summer with a pair of high-profile educational events designed to showcase the depth, diversity, and craftsmanship of one of Italy’s most iconic wine regions.

The Consorzio Vino Chianti will host two institutional masterclasses—the first in Toronto on August 31, followed by a second in Montréal on September 1. Targeted at wine importers, sommeliers, trade professionals, and journalists, the sessions will explore the region's distinct sub-zones, terroir, and the modern nuances of the Sangiovese grape. This marks the consortium’s third promotional tour in Canada since launching the initiative in 2024, signaling the market's strategic importance for Tuscan winemakers.
"Canada continues to prove itself as an exceptionally receptive market for Chianti," said Giovanni Busi, President of the Consorzio Vino Chianti. "Returning for a third time allows us to consolidate a promotional path rooted in education and wine culture. Presenting Chianti today means telling the story of an appellation that knows how to evolve while staying true to its identity, capturing varied expressions through its diverse microclimates, sub-zones, and rich viticultural heritage."
