Ulaanbaatar – ‘The Wind of the Great Sea Across the Steppe: Raphael and Bernini’ has opened at the Genghis Khaan National Museum in Ulaanbaatar. The opening ceremony was attended by the director of the Galleria Borghese, Francesca Cappelletti; Italy’s ambassador to Mongolia, Giovanna Piccarreta; Mongolia’s Secretary of State for Culture; the cultural adviser to President Khurelsukh; and the director of the Genghis Khaan Museum. From 1 October, visitors to the exhibition will be able to admire two masterpieces from Rome’s Galleria Borghese – Bernini’s ‘Bronze Neptune’ and Raphael’s ‘Portrait of a Man’ – accompanied by reproductions of the diagnostic imaging carried out on the two works, as well as panels tracing the history of Renaissance and Baroque art.
