Zurich - Film enthusiasts in Zurich can look forward to a unique cinematic journey this autumn and winter. Running from October through March at the ABZ Saal, the cultural association Unitre Universitas and the theater company Gli Attomatti are launching a multidisciplinary film series titled “Nel passo lento della meraviglia” ("At the Slow Pace of Wonder").
The curated program features a diverse lineup of bittersweet tragicomedies spanning different eras and directors. Despite their varied origins, the selected films share a common thematic thread: physical movement, travel, or escape as a catalyst for personal transformation. Audiences will experience classics that tackle themes ranging from industrial alienation in Charlie Chaplin’s Modern Times and conformity in Mr. Hulot’s Holiday, to youthful apathy in I vitelloni, personal rebirth in Bread and Tulips, and the resilience of old age in The Straight Story.
Utilizing irony, lightness, poetry, and minimalism, these screenings invite viewers to reflect on how stepping away from daily routines alters human perspective. The series kicks off on October 3 with Modern Times.
