Oakland – Italian jazz singer and composer Chiara Izzi, who has been based in New York since 2014, will perform in Oakland on 15 October for an evening of live music at The Sound Room, organised in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute of San Francisco. In 2020, Izzi won an Independent Music Award in the Best Jazz Song with Vocals category for her composition Circles of the Mind. Her music skilfully blends Italian traditional music with jazz, Mediterranean and pop influences, creating a dynamic and engaging performance in which she sings and tells stories in four languages: Italian, English, Portuguese and Spanish. With a warm voice and a distinctly Mediterranean sound, Izzi says that living and working in a highly stimulating environment such as New York City allows her to express her qualities as a storyteller, musician and individual to the fullest. “For me, making music as a tool for peace is very important,” says Chiara Izzi. “It means building bridges between different worlds and bringing different cultures into dialogue, starting precisely with music.” (9colonne)
