London – The Italian Cultural Institute in London is presenting the London leg of the European tour of L’uomo più crudele del mondo (The Cruellest Man in the World), a play by Davide Sacco starring two of Italy’s most acclaimed stage and screen actors, Lino Guanciale and Francesco Montanari. Performed in Italian with English surtitles, the play is set in a bare, abandoned warehouse, where the powerful owner of Europe’s largest arms company agrees to be interviewed by a young journalist. What begins as a formal conversation soon develops into a tense psychological confrontation, as roles are reversed, certainties crumble and moral boundaries become blurred. A taut, fast-paced dialogue between two characters, L’uomo più crudele del mondo explores the fragile line between humanity and brutality, power and responsibility, instinct and reason. Through an unrelenting exchange, the play dismantles the apparent divide between victim and perpetrator, revealing how cruelty can lurk behind respectability, silence and success. The minimalist yet evocative staging places the actors at the centre of an escalating battle of words and physical confrontation. The stark set and cold lighting create an unsettling atmosphere that reflects the emotional and ethical void at the heart of the story. The performance will take place on 19 October at 7 pm at Leicester Square Theatre in London. (9colonne)
