Rabat - Organized by the Embassy of Italy in Rabat and the Italian Cultural Institute of Rabat, in collaboration with the Hiba Foundation, the Cinémathèque marocaine, and Cinema 7ème Art, a special screening of Paolo Strippoli’s film The Valley of Smiles (La valle dei sorrisi) will take place as part of the Italian Screens series on November 3 at 7:00 PM at Cinéma 7ème Art.
The film is set in Remis, a secluded village tucked away in a mountain valley where the residents seem unusually happy. This is where Sergio Rossetti, a new physical education teacher haunted by a mysterious past, arrives. Through his encounter with Michela, the young owner of the local inn, Sergio discovers that beneath the surface of apparent serenity lies a disturbing ritual: once a week, the villagers gather to hug Matteo Corbin, a teenager capable of absorbing everyone else's pain. Sergio's attempt to save the boy will ultimately unleash the darker side of the person everyone calls the Angel of Remis. (9colonne)
