Oct. 1 - A new album and a new stage: it’s undeniable a magical moment for Emiliano Rudolf Giambelli, aka Emis Killa. One of the most promising Italian rap artists is ready to land in America. Born 24 years ago in Vimercate - in the province of Monza - Emis Killa will participate in one of hip hop's most popular events in the world, the "Bet Hip Hop Awards," held each year in Washington. The young rapper is the first Italian artist to be invited to the event, now in its 8th edition. Past editions have seen the participation of world-renowned artists such as Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Chris Brown, Kanye West, Busta Rhymes and many others. The event will be aired on October 15 on Bet USA and replicated on October 18 on Bet UK and Africa, thus reaching an audience of over 17 million people. The confirmation of the Italian rapper’s participation comes only a few weeks after the announcement that his new album, "Mercurio," will be available in stores on October 22. The singer of "L’Erba Cattiva" will perform in the Cyphers category, in which MCs challenge each other in a freestyle competition: the artists, standing in a circle, will propose something from their repertoire, alternating in styles and beats. In the Cyphers category there will be 7 artists performing this year, including the biggest names in the American rap scene (Kendrick Lamar, A$AP Rocky, Action Bronson, Nelly, and Joell Ortiz).
EMIS KILLA’S SUCCESS
Emis Killa was born in 1989 and in less than a decade has become a well-known rapper in Milan. He first approached rap at the age of 14, attracted mainly by the battles, which he began practicing in Milan’s Muretto and that brought him, in 2007, to perform at " Perfect Techniques" (a mandatory competition for all freestyle battle rappers). There he won the title of Italian freestyle champion. Later, he decided to abandon freestyle to devote himself to writing lyrics. He signed with Blocco Recordz, with whom he released in 2009 his first work, "Keta Music," becoming the topic of Italy’s underground rap scene. In 2010, Emis Killa returned with a new project "Champagne e spine," a street album that consecrated him as the Italian young rap promise, collaborating with artists such as Jake la furia, Gue Pequeno from Club Dogo, Marracash, Bassi Maestro and others with producers Don Joe from Club Dogo and Big Fish. It is thanks to this album Emis Killa began receiving proposals from various record labels, and in 2011, after the release of "The flow cocker vol.1," Emis Killa signed with Carousel Records. Under the label, the rapper published a remix of " I need a dollar " by Aloe Black and an EP entitled “Il Peggiore”(2011) , a project that anticipated his first official album, "L’Erba Cattiva," released on January 24, 2012. And 2012 effectively consecrated Emis Killa as the great revelation of Italian rap: the album made its debut in 5th place on national charts, reaching platinum, and remained for one consecutive year at the top of the official sales charts; Emis Killa won the Best New Generation TRL Awards and starred in both MTV TRL Award Days with amazing live performances; he eventually won the Best Italian Act at the MTV Europe Music Awards.
