Social cinema travels from Sardinia to Andalusia with screenings in Seville and Cádiz

Seville – Following well-attended screenings in Oristano and Seneghe, the "Cinema per il Sociale" (Cinema for Social Change) initiative expands beyond Italian borders into Andalusia, hosting two special events in Seville and Cádiz on October 30 and 31.
The showcased works - two documentaries produced in Sardinia - address compelling social and cultural issues with universal appeal: the integration of migrant women and the extraordinary wave of solidarity that united thousands of European families following the Chernobyl nuclear disaster.
The first stop takes place at the University of Seville (Faculty of Philology) as part of the seminar “Linguistic and Cultural Mediation in the Context of Female Migration,” organized by the Unidad para la Igualdad and the Escritoras y Escrituras research group. At 7:00 PM in Room 207, audiences can attend a screening of the documentary “Donne in Avanti” (Women Forward) in its original version with Spanish subtitles. The film highlights the journeys of four women who relocated to Sardinia from various countries, navigating the challenges of migration to build new lives. Their stories offer a compelling look at the vital role of linguistic and cultural mediation through personal accounts of courage, determination, and transformation.
The second screening will be held in Cádiz on October 31 at 8:30 PM at the Espacio Cultural Fernando Quiñones. Organized in collaboration with the City Council of Cádiz (Fundación Municipal de Cultura) and the Amigos de Quiñones association, the event features a special presentation of “Le Cicogne di Chernobyl” (The Storks of Chernobyl). The documentary chronicles the welcoming of children from areas affected by the 1986 nuclear disaster into European homes, highlighting the prominent role played by Italian families, particularly in Sardinia.
Both documentaries were produced by the non-profit association Cittadini del Mondo ODV – Cinema per il Sociale, directed by Karim Galici, and created in collaboration with Rai Teche and Rai Sardegna, with support from the Fondazione di Sardegna.
