Libreville - Eni has made a major gas and condensate discovery in the Deep Nyonie exploration site, located offshore of Gabon in exploration block D4, about 13 kilometers from the coast and 50 kilometers from the capital, Libreville. The discovery, which according to preliminary estimates is significant, has an initial potential estimated at about 500 million barrels of oil equivalent; and occurred in the exploration well Nyonie Deep 1, drilled at 28 meters of water depth for a total depth of 4,314 meters. Following the discovery, a delineation campaign will soon be implemented to confirm its potential. The discovery is the result of the exploration campaign that Eni is leading in the West Africa basin, and it is the third field recently discovered in shallow water, alongside Nene Marine and Marine Litchendjili in Congo.
