Tunis - The Palais Ennejma Ezzahra – Sidi Bou Said in Tunis is set to host Umberto Ruboni and his piano music on September 19, 2024, at 7:00 PM (local time). Born in Genoa in 1996, Umberto Ruboni is an Artist in Residence at the Ingesund Piano Center in Arvika (Sweden), the premier Swedish piano academy led by Julia Mustonen-Dahlkvist. Graduating with honors and distinction from the Conservatorio “G. Verdi” in Milan, he has divided his musical training between the Conservatories of Alessandria and Milan, as well as the Accademia Chigiana in Siena and the Accademia di Pinerolo, among others. His teachers have included Maddalena Lolaico, Angela Colombo, Marco Rapattoni, Gianmaria Bonino, and Sergio Marchegiani. He has also refined his skills with renowned pianists such as Roberto Plano, Olaf John Laneri, Roberto Cappello, Mikael Kanarva, Lylia Zilberstein, Sergejs Osokins, Pavel Nersessian, and Jacques Ammon.
Ruboni has distinguished himself in numerous piano competitions, including the Orbetello Master Piano Competition (First Prize – 2023), YAMAHA International Piano Competition in Malmö (First Prize – 2022), Thalberg International Piano Competition in Naples (Third Prize – 2021), Premio del Conservatorio di Milano (First Prize in Solo Performance – 2015, First Prize in Chamber Music – 2017), and Albenga International Piano Competition (Third Prize – 2019). He has performed for prominent concert societies (Società dei Concerti di Milano, Società del Quartetto di Milano, Accademia Filarmonica Romana, Società Umanitaria, Festival Echos, Glafsfjorden Musikfestival) and has appeared as a soloist with orchestras under distinguished conductors (Beatrice Venezi, Nikolay Lalov, Fabrizio Dorsi, Marcello Rota, Pietro Mianiti).
A lover of chamber music, he regularly performs in piano duos with Eunmi Park and in a duo with cellist Matteo Fabi. He has also had the honor of performing in duo or chamber ensembles with classical music stars such as Bruno Canino, Elio Marchesini (member of the “Percussionisti della Scala”), Vicens Prats (Principal Flute of the renowned Orchestre de Paris), Sarah Louvion (First Prize Kobe International Flute Competition), Alena Walentin (former Vice President of the British Flute Society), and Marina Piccinini (“Heifetz of the Flute” according to the prestigious music magazine Gramophone).
From a young age, he has also gained recognition as a teacher and is frequently invited to give workshops and masterclasses: chamber music teacher for the Valtellina Festival Le AltreNote, piano teacher for the Oltregiogo Workshops, and piano teacher for the Pianitalia Festival 2023 with Eunmi Park and Tony Yike Yang. He has served as a juror for the Pianitalia Piano Competition and the Northern Light Piano Competition. This will be his first performance in Tunis. (9colonne)
