Vespa exhibition celebrates Italian legend at Bratislava Castle

On March 12, the exhibition dedicated to the Vespa opened at Bratislava Castle, organized by the Embassy of Italy and the Italian Institute of Culture, in collaboration with the Slovak National Museum and the Fumagalli Collection from Seregno. The exhibition, titled “Vespa. A Legend of Made in Italy,” features historic models loaned by entrepreneur and collector Marco Fumagalli from his collection. Among the highlights are the 1951 Vespa 125 cc, the model used in the film “Roman Holiday”, and the Vespa 98 cc, the very first Vespa ever produced by Piaggio, alongside more recent models from the Vespa Club Košice.

The exhibition also includes rare vintage advertising posters, film posters, technical projects, memorabilia, and artwork by Mimmo Rotella and Maurizio Galimberti. Besides Fumagalli, the exhibition opening was attended by Ambassador Gianclemente De Felice, Anton Bittner, Director-General of the Slovak Museum, and Rino Drogo, the exhibition curator, an expert in automotive communication and former director of the Bologna Motor Show. Several prominent figures from the business, political, and diplomatic worlds were also present, including the ambassadors of the United States, Canada, Israel, United Kingdom, Germany, and the Holy See.

In the afternoon, members of the Vespa Klub Slovakia were granted special permission to ride their Vespas into the castle courtyard. This initiative, part of the 18th Italian Festival in Slovakia – “Dolce Vitaj”, is supported by the Mayor of Bratislava, Matúš Vallo, and will remain open to the public until May 12.
