The celebrations in Ecuador, organized by the Embassy of Italy in Quito with the support of the ICE Agency (Bogotá Office), the Italian Chamber of Commerce of Ecuador, and the Ecuadorian-Italian Bi-national Chamber of Commerce, for the 2025 edition of Italian Design Day titled “Inequalities. Design for a Better Life” have concluded.
The main speaker was independent designer Francesco Faccin, trained in Italy at the studio of Enzo Mari, who boasts numerous successful collaborations internationally, particularly in developing countries. Appointed by ADI, the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Ministry of Culture as the official spokesperson for the ninth edition of the event in Ecuador, Faccin, alongside Italian architect Elisa Giusti, engaged the Ecuadorian audience by highlighting the role of design in reducing the impact of inequality on individual well-being in daily life.
The roundtable held with the Ecuadorian craft industry and the working meeting with the Collegio degli Architetti of Pichincha province led to joint projects between Italy and Ecuador focused on urban regeneration, transformation, and accessibility to structures and services. According to Ambassador Giovanni Davoli, “The furniture and design sector plays a central role in the promotional strategy supporting the Italian production system in Ecuador, also considering the importance of promoting our major events such as the Triennale di Milano, the Salone del Mobile, and the Venice Biennale. Ecuador is committed to reducing inequalities and protecting biodiversity: in this regard, quality Italian design and our businesses can offer a significant contribution.”
