Dec. 10 - Maire Tecnimont S.p.A. announced that its subsidiary Tecnimont SpA won A contract on the basis refundable Engineering & Procurement (EP) for the realization on behalf of Etileno XXI Services BV of a unit of low density polyethylene (LDPE) with a capacity of 300 thousand tons per year. This will be built as part of the petrochemical complex Etileno XXI. The latter, developed by Braskem Idesa, is located in Nanchital, Veracruz (Mexico). It is expected that the project will generate more than 8,000 jobs during the construction phase and 3,000 jobs – both direct and indirect - by 2015, once in operation. This project fits into the Mexican government’s strategy the to promote the competitiveness of the sector and industrial development at the local level. The unit of low-density polyethylene will use Lupotech T technology from Lyondell Basell Industries. The value of the contract amounts to USD 191,4 million (approximately € 147 million). Engineering and Procurement activities will be completed by the fourth quarter of 2014. This award reinforces the presence of Maire Tecnimont Group in the market for polyolefin and strengthens the historic partnership with Braskem petrochemical projects. It also confirms the Group's growth-oriented strategy for a business model technology driven and targeted to maximize the Engineering & Procurement scheme.
