Erbil – The Italian National Contingent Command Land (IT NCC LAND), under the command of Colonel Antonello Ancreottola, celebrated the 79th anniversary of the Italian Republic in Iraq. The day began with a wreath-laying ceremony at a monument honoring the fallen of all wars, followed by a military ceremony attended by Tommaso Sansone, Italy’s Consul General in Erbil, representatives from all coalition nations, Ahmed Hoshyar Mohamedameen, Director of Erbil International Airport, Gen. Aziz Mala Zuber, Head of Airport Security, and Miro Shakawan, Director of the Kurdistan Regional Security Center.
The IT NCC LAND operates under the coordination of Italy’s Joint Operations Headquarters (COVI). The event highlights Italy’s broader commitment to supporting the government of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. This includes strengthening the operational and training capabilities of local security forces to ensure their growing autonomy in the fight against Daesh, as well as contributing to the region’s socio-economic development through the efforts of the CIMIC team.
