Italy and South Korea explore new cultural and business opportunities

Daegu – Giorgio Maria Cavalieri, Political Adviser and Head of Subnational Diplomacy at the Italian Embassy in Seoul, met with Kim Young Wook, Secretary General of the Daegu Korea-Italy Friendship Association, and Kim Hyun Jin, Director of International and Commercial Affairs for the city of Daegu. The meetings took place during the Daegu Chimac Festival, one of South Korea’s most popular cultural and food events, known for its lively mix of culinary stands, live performances, and interactive experiences that draw thousands of visitors each year.
These institutional meetings opened new prospects for cultural and entrepreneurial collaboration between Italy and Daegu, particularly in the lead-up to the Preview in Daegu (PID), a major international textile fair and one of Asia’s premier industry events.
Also attending on behalf of the Embassy was Jessica Yoo Seung Hee, an expert in intergovernmental cooperation and conventions. Daegu holds strategic importance for Italy—not only due to its economic influence in South Korea but also because of its strong institutional and cultural ties with several Italian cities. Among them are Milan and Pesaro, both of which are twinned with the Korean city.
