L’Aquila University reinforces international cooperation

Kumasi – The University of L’Aquila continues to affirm its international mission with a renewed commitment to academic cooperation beyond the European Union. The university’s international relations division has launched a new strategic plan aimed at strengthening ties with institutions outside the EU and attracting more international students to L’Aquila.

The plan, recently unveiled at the Rectorate, focuses on building academic and scientific dialogue with partners in the Western Balkans, Eastern Neighborhood, Southern Mediterranean, and Sub-Saharan Africa.

Concrete actions are being rolled out to attract students and faculty from non-EU countries and to promote joint projects in education and research. Special attention is being given to institutions affected by global crises, such as Ukraine, Palestine, and Syria, where the University of L’Aquila maintains longstanding academic relationships.

The launch event welcomed representatives from partner institutions in Ghana, Rwanda, and Tunisia, including faculty from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (Kumasi), the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (Kigali), and the University of Monastir. Ukrainian institutions were also well represented, with delegates from Taras Shevchenko University of Kyiv, V. N. Karazin University of Kharkiv (alma mater of three Nobel laureates: Élie Metchnikoff, Lev Landau, and Simon Kuznets), Lviv Polytechnic, and Ivan Franko University of Lviv.
