Athens – In the Eastern Mediterranean, off the waters of the Aegean, Kydoimos was born: the new course of first-year cadets of the Naval Academy. As with every course, it bears a name inspired by the experiences of the cadets and the bonds with the history and places encountered during their training. Chosen by the first-year cadets of the Naval Academy, Kydoimos is a Greek word which, in the language of Homer, means “the clamour of battle”: not chaos, but a primordial force that unites, an echo of challenge and growth. It is a name that links the cadets to their stop in Souda, Crete – cradle of timeless myths – and that renews, fifty years on, the thread connecting them to the Eleutheros Course.
