Toledo – “Il Combattimento di Tancredi e Clorinda” in Toledo marks the opening of the 2025–2026 season for CCN/Aterballetto, launching the company’s international tour in a striking setting: the Puerta de Bisagra. On September 13, with performances at 8 p.m. and 9:30 p.m., the production will be staged as part of Spain’s Noche del Patrimonio, supported by the Italian Cultural Institute in Madrid. Against the monumental backdrop of the Puerta de Bisagra, Torquato Tasso’s tale of love and death from Gerusalemme Liberata, set to music by Claudio Monteverdi, comes to life through dance and music.

The performance, directed by Fabio Cherstich and Philippe Kratz, features dancers Alessia Giacomelli and Kiran Gezels, tenor Matteo Straffi, and harpsichordist Deniel Perer.

Following Spain, Aterballetto travels to Expo 2025 Osaka, with performances of “Il Combattimento di Tancredi e Clorinda” at the Italy Pavilion Theater on September 22, 24, and 25. Supported by the Emilia-Romagna Region, the company will represent its home territory during Emilia-Romagna Week at Expo.

A co-production with Teatro Regio di Parma / Festival Verdi, Torinodanza Festival / Teatro Stabile di Torino – Teatro Nazionale, and Ghislierimusica, the project merges music, theater, and dance, renewing one of the “sacred texts” of Italian cultural heritage with a contemporary lens. In 2024, on the 400th anniversary of Monteverdi’s madrigal Il Combattimento di Tancredi e Clorinda (1624–2024), CCN/Aterballetto has revisited the work in its original spirit of experimentation and innovation—an essential milestone in the evolution of musical theater.
