Rome celebrates Ibero-American cinema with Scoprir Festival

Rome – The city’s Casa del Cinema is once again opening its doors to the best of contemporary Ibero-American film with the return of the Scoprir Festival, now in its 13th edition.
The three-day event offers Italian audiences a rare opportunity to discover films from Spanish-speaking countries across the American continent, with a curated selection of feature films, documentaries and short movies produced within the last two years.
This year’s edition stands out for its strong female presence, both behind and in front of the camera. Many of the films are directed by women or feature female-led narratives, highlighting new voices and perspectives in Ibero-American cinema.
More than just a film showcase, Scoprir aims to promote cultural exchange and provide visibility to works that often struggle to find distribution in Italy. The program touches on a wide range of subjects, from social and political issues to identity, history and everyday life across Latin America.
The festival continues to grow as a reference point for cinephiles and professionals alike, offering a window into a vibrant and evolving film scene beyond European and Hollywood circuits.
