St. Moritz set for Women’s World Cup Speed Tripleheader

St. Moritz - Everything is set on the Swiss snow of St. Moritz for the sixth stop of the Women’s Alpine Skiing World Cup season and the first dedicated to speed events. After two timed training runs, the legendary Corviglia slope will host back-to-back downhill races on December 12 and 13 at 10:15 a.m. and 10:45 a.m., followed by a concluding super-G on Sunday, December 14 at 10:45 a.m.

Italy will field 11 athletes: Sara Allemand, Vicky Bernardi, Elena Curtoni, Carlotta De Leonardis, Nadia Delago, Nicol Delago, Sofia Goggia, Roberta Melesi, Laura Pirovano, Sara Thaler and Asja Zenere-who recently scored her first career top-10 in the Copper Mountain giant slalom. The team will have nine starters both in downhill and in super-G, with Allemand added thanks to her fixed spot earned in the Europa Cup.

Italian skiers have celebrated eight victories in St. Moritz over the years, thanks to Isolde Kostner, Karen Putzer, Federica Brignone, Sofia Goggia and Elena Curtoni. In total, the Italian women have reached the podium 25 times on this slope.
