Mogadishu – The Italian contingent of the European Union Training Mission donated medicines to the Presidential Hospital at Villa Somalia, as part of civil-military cooperation initiatives supporting the local healthcare system.
The donation included 1,500 medicine packages supplied by the Italian National Contingent Command and 280 additional packages of pharmaceuticals and medical devices provided by Banco Farmaceutico, a non-profit organization that distributes medicines to health facilities in vulnerable contexts.
Representatives from the hospital and the IT-NCC commander, Lieutenant Colonel Marco De Gruttola, attended the handover. The initiative highlighted the importance of Italian-Somali cooperation in healthcare and Italy’s contribution to strengthening local institutional capacities. The medicines are intended to support clinical activities at the hospital, enhancing emergency response and day-to-day patient care.
