Houston – Leonardo is expanding its support for airport operations in the U.S. with two contracts worth over $120 million to provide baggage handling solutions (BHS) at Houston Hobby (HOU) and Melbourne Orlando (MLB) airports. The company will modernize and optimize baggage management operations, allowing the airports to meet evolving passenger traffic demands without disrupting daily activities.
At Houston Hobby, Leonardo will implement a full upgrade of the BHS system, featuring two high-performance Cross-Belt sorters and an Early Baggage Storage solution for secure handling of early-checked luggage. At Melbourne Orlando, the upgrade focuses on a TSA-approved checked baggage inspection system (CBIS) with a transverse conveyor belt to improve tracking, reduce errors, and enhance efficiency within a compact space.
These projects reinforce Leonardo’s strategic presence in the U.S., complementing its existing installations, including the BHS at Denver International Airport and the MSC Cruises terminal in Miami.
