“Bicycle Thieves,” De Sica’s masterpiece, screened at the Italian Cultural Institute in Dublin

On March 9 at 6:00 p.m., the Italian Cultural Institute of Dublin will host the second appointment of its Mondays at the Cinema series with a screening of Bicycle Thieves (1948), the Oscar-winning masterpiece by Vittorio De Sica.
Set in post-war Italy, the film tells the poignant story of a working-class man whose bicycle - essential for his livelihood - is stolen. Accompanied by his young son, he embarks on a desperate search through Rome, in a narrative that has become one of the most powerful expressions of Italian Neorealism.
The screening is part of the Institute’s ongoing commitment to promoting classic Italian cinema and cultural heritage in Ireland.
