Rio de Janeiro – Italian-Brazilian artist Lucio Salvatore will be in Brazil on April 13 at 4 p.m. at the Museu do Amanhã in Rio de Janeiro to present his book Anni Venti, with the institutional support of the Italian Cultural Institute. Before exhibitions, before images, even before a work finds its name, there is a silent space where everything takes shape. Salvatore’s book originates there: from twenty years of texts, notes, and reflections written alongside his work, in the midst of its making. The publication gathers private annotations, notes, and observations produced close to creative processes and never intended for publication. It is precisely this original, unmediated nature that gives Anni Venti its particular intensity: not an external reconstruction of the artist’s path, but direct access to thought as it seeks form. For a long time, Lucio Salvatore’s practice developed far from the logic of mediated visibility. His work circulated through exhibitions, residencies, and events without being accompanied by an explicit narrative or a coordinated communication system. Anni Venti now marks a decisive turning point, opening the artist’s thinking, for the first time, to a broader and more conscious engagement with the public. The book also dialogues with the documentary of the same name, built from fragments of direct footage that survived the loss of part of the artist’s archival material. In this relationship between written word and recovered image, Anni Venti emerges as an invitation to enter a body of research that is still alive and ongoing. (9colonne)
