Washington – A memorandum of understanding has been signed between the National Italian American Foundation (NIAF) and the Polish American Congress (PAC), the leading national organization representing Americans of Polish descent, which advocates for Polish American interests and promotes Polish culture, heritage, and history across the country. The signing of the MoU formalizes cooperation between two of the most historic Euro-American ethnic organizations in the United States. The agreement was signed by NIAF President and CEO Robert Allegrini and PAC President Hubert Cioromski, and takes effect immediately with a three-year term, renewable. Founded in 1975, NIAF is the principal national organization representing the Italian American community, dedicated to celebrating and promoting the remarkable achievements and positive values of Italian culture and presence in America, as well as strengthening ties between the United States and Italy. “This agreement with the Polish American Congress represents much more than a formal understanding: it is a declaration of shared values, common history, and common goals,” said Allegrini. “Both Italians and Poles know what it means to fight for freedom, to build something lasting in a new land, and to proudly carry forward their culture. We look forward to all that we can accomplish together”. “The Polish American Congress is proud to join the National Italian American Foundation in this new chapter of cooperation,” said Cioromski. “Our communities share deep roots, enduring values, and a common commitment to strengthening the fabric of American society. By working together, we can do more for our communities and for our country”. NIAF and PAC view this agreement as a first step toward the creation of an American League of European Ethnic Organizations (ALEEO), a unified coalition representing the full spectrum of communities of European descent in America – from Italian and Polish to Greek, Irish, German, Ukrainian, Baltic, Balkan, Nordic, and beyond. Inspired by successful coalitions such as UnidosUS and the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, ALEEO would amplify the collective political voice of Euro-American communities, support cultural preservation, facilitate coordination in times of crisis, and create opportunities for youth engagement within member communities.
