Italian businesses eye Serbia ahead of Expo 2027

Belgrade – Confesercenti Campania has carried out a mission to Serbia aimed at identifying concrete opportunities for Italian businesses ahead of Expo 2027, which will take place in Belgrade from May 15 to August 15 under the theme “Play for Humanity - Sport and Music for All.”
During the visit, President Vincenzo Schiavo - also National Vice President with responsibility for Southern Italy - met with Adrijana Mesarović, Serbia’s Minister of Economy and Deputy Prime Minister, as well as the mayor of Vranje, Slobodan Milenković.
Discussions focused particularly on the fashion sector and on FISMO, Confesercenti’s branch representing over 25,000 Italian companies, with strong roots in Campania and across the national production system. Italian fashion, globally recognized and valued, generates over €100 billion in revenue and remains a cornerstone of the country’s economy. It is also highly appreciated in Serbia, a rapidly growing market with GDP growth of around 5%.
The meetings explored how Italian companies can expand their economic presence in Serbia, a country offering significant growth potential and seeking Italian expertise, know-how, and production quality to strengthen its industrial and commercial networks.
“In these two days, we met institutional representatives who showed great respect for Italy, our businesses, and our entrepreneurial culture,” Schiavo said.
Confesercenti continues to play a strategic role in internationalization processes, acting as a bridge between Italian enterprises and foreign markets. “Serbian consumers appreciate Italian products and lifestyle, seeing our country as a benchmark,” Schiavo added. “Expo 2027 will be a further opportunity to expand the reach of our companies.”
Follow-up initiatives are already being planned to support Italian businesses interested in entering or strengthening their presence in the Serbian market.
