From Monday to Friday, BigItalyFocus provides an information overview, ranged from development aid to made in Italy
Tirana – Amedeo Modigliani, one of the defining figures of 20th-century art, takes center stage in Tirana. From May 15 to 30, Kalo Gallery will host an international avant-première showcasing a project of major artistic and scholarly significance. Promoted by the Kalo Foundation, founded by lawyer Përparim Kalo, in collaboration with the Amedeo Modigliani Legal Archives, the initiative marks an important step in Tirana’s cultural development and strengthens the city’s position on the international art scene. The programme opens with an exclusive inaugural evening on May 14 for institutional representatives, ambassadors, diplomatic delegations, business leaders, and prominent figures from the Italian and Albanian cultural worlds. The official invitation-only opening will follow on May 15 at 6 p.m., launching an exhibition expected to attract a broad and diverse audience. From May 16 to 30, the exhibition will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. At the heart of the initiative is the presentation of the Catalogue Raisonné Volume VI, a key reference work for the study and authentication of Modigliani’s oeuvre. Artistic direction has been entrusted to Liora Sinigaglia, whose contribution was instrumental in bringing this internationally focused project to the Albanian capital. Alongside her, Massimiliano Adilardi oversees production strategy and organisational management, ensuring the event’s international reach and visibility. The project’s scholarly authority is reinforced by the supervision of Christian Parisot, custodian of the Modigliani archives and widely regarded as one of the leading experts on the artist. His involvement guarantees methodological rigour and highlights the project’s research-driven approach. Among the most anticipated events is a lecture by Professor Gazmend Leka, who will explore Modigliani’s legacy in Albanian art, highlighting possible connections between the visual language of the Livorno-born master and artistic developments across the Balkans.
