Bratislava – The Italian Cultural Institute in Bratislava is collaborating on two concerts as part of the 17th edition of the Bratislava Cathedral Organ Festival, a series dedicated to organ music and the great sacred repertoire. The first concert will take place on September 3 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Martin's Cathedral in Bratislava. Entitled La Serenissima – Music from Venice, it will feature organist Daniele Ferretti and the Armoniosa Ensemble, an Italian group specializing in historically informed performances of early music. The program includes works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Antonio Vivaldi, Georg Friedrich Händel and Tomaso Albinoni. The second concert, scheduled for September 10 at 7:30 p.m., will present Between the Cathedral and the Opera, featuring Italian conductor Samuele Galeano and Italian organist Roberto Bonetto. Together with the Trnavský komorný orchester, the Miešaný spevácky zbor Tirnavia and Slovak soloists, the artists will perform a program pairing Edward Elgar with leading composers of Italian opera, including Giuseppe Verdi, Giacomo Puccini, Gioachino Rossini and Pietro Mascagni. The concert will offer audiences a striking dialogue between symphonic, organ and operatic repertoire. (9colonne)
