Buenos Aires – The second stop of Visioni Sarde in Argentina concluded successfully on August 29. The showcase of emerging Sardinian cinema was held in San Isidro, Buenos Aires, at Usina Coworking – Ituzaingo and organized by Círculo Raíces Sardas Buenos Aires Norte, with the support of the Federation of Sardinian Associations in Argentina, the Bologna Cinematheque, the Autonomous Region of Sardinia and the Municipality of San Isidro, Buenos Aires. Five films, subtitled in Spanish, offered different perspectives on identity, memory, the land and life in Sardinia. The audience applauded Island for Rent by Elio Turno Arthemalle and Salvatore Cubeddu; Mio babbo è superman by Giovanni Mario D'Angelo; Infanzia e gioventù di Gramsci by Paolo Zucca, Alessandra Atzori and Milena Tibaldo; Brigas by Lorenzo Spinelli; and Una faccia da cinema by Alberto Salvucci. The event was dedicated, according to organizers Ezequiel Nicolás Sarno, president, and Ana María Ruiu, secretary of the Círculo Italo-Argentino Raíces Sardas Buenos Aires Norte, to promoting Sardinian cinema, culture and stories through a selection of contemporary short films. “The 29th was a wonderful evening dedicated to island cinema, allowing us to come together, talk and reflect on our homeland and, above all, to continue building bridges between Sardinia and Buenos Aires,” the organizers said.
