New York – The 2027 edition of World’s Best Specialized Hospitals, the international ranking compiled by U.S. magazine Newsweek in partnership with online data platform Statista, places Rome’s Bambino Gesù Children’s Hospital fourth worldwide among hospitals specialising in pediatrics. The hospital has climbed two places from the previous edition, while retaining its position as the top-ranked pediatric hospital in Europe. A fixture in the Top 10 since 2024, Bambino Gesù is the only Italian institution among the world’s top 25 hospitals in the specialty. The top three positions are held by North American institutions: The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Boston Children’s Hospital and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. For the pediatrics category, Newsweek and Statista assessed around 800 institutions in 35 countries, selecting 250 hospitals for the final ranking. The overall ranking is complemented by recognition in two “standout specialties”, meaning areas identified as particularly strong within pediatrics. In the 2027 edition, oncology – already recognised last year – is joined by neonatology. Bambino Gesù also received the highest possible rating – three “ribbons” – for its use of Patient-Reported Outcome Measures, tools that collect information directly from patients about their health, recovery and quality of life following treatment.
