Caracas – From October 1 to November 22, the Museo di Roma in Trastevere will host Las Grietas. In Search of a Fantasy, a solo exhibition by Venezuelan photographer and journalist Fabiola Ferrero, winner of the 16th IILA Photography Award. The exhibition will open on Wednesday, September 30 at 6 p.m., offering the public and the press an opportunity to explore an intense and layered visual journey that uses the image of grietas – cracks – to examine collective memory, social fragility, urban transformation and historical tensions. The exhibition brings together some of the artist’s most significant works – Whispering Walls, I Can't Hear the Birds and Reinas – alongside Contramonumento, a work developed by Ferrero during her time in Italy as part of the IILA Photography Award and being presented to the public for the first time. The exhibition will also be accompanied by a catalogue published by Gangemi Editore, featuring an author’s note by Marco Delogu. Ferrero’s work brings a perspective from Venezuela to Rome, drawing connections between the fractures of history and the more intimate fractures of memory and the body, while exploring realities and identities in constant transformation. The exhibition is promoted by Roma Capitale, its Department for Culture and the Coordination of Initiatives Related to Holocaust Remembrance Day, and the Capitoline Superintendency for Cultural Heritage.
