Circasia - Despite recent earthquake disruptions, the municipality of Circasia in the Quindío region successfully hosted the 5th edition of the Xixa Fiesta de las Artes 2026. This year’s festival took on a deeper purpose: director Andrés Felipe Ramírez redirected part of the program to aid communities hit hardest by the quake, bringing mobile cinema directly to rural schools in hard-to-reach areas.
Among the featured works was “Ajò West!” by Sara Corbioli - a surreal, witty short film blending Western tropes with traditional Sardinian lore - presented as part of the Visioni Sarde showcase. This screening in Circasia builds on a broader tour across Colombia spearheaded by Marco Spiga, cultural coordinator at the Comites in Bogotá. The initiative previously brought emerging Sardinian cinema to C.U.N. University in Bogotá and Medellín before arriving in Circasia on September 11. Visioni Sarde’s international program is organized by the Cineteca di Bologna with backing from the Regional Department of Labor of Sardinia.
