Basel – High attendance, enthusiasm, and a culinary vision capable of creating connections through flavor defined the Basel leg of the Italian Cuisine Festival in Switzerland, hosted at Aroma for the event's eighth stop. The successful evening highlighted the roots of Italian culinary tradition, reinterpreted through the research and artistry of two Neapolitan masters: Chef Lino Scarallo and Pizza Chef Davide Ruotolo, both from Palazzo Petrucci in Naples. The Consul of Italy in Basel, Eugenia Tiziana Berti, was among the evening's distinguished guests.
Conceived, organized, and directed by Carla Botta, the inaugural Italian Cuisine Festival in Switzerland is nearing its grand finale following a journey spanning nine cities and ten restaurants, building a collaborative network among chefs, pizza chefs, and Italian dining establishments.
The itinerary continues in Lugano at Acqua & Farina for the ninth stop, Scena di gusto, featuring two-Michelin-starred Chef Domenico Iavarone and Gambero Rosso 3-Spicchi Pizza Chef Mario Cipriano, alongside resident chefs Davide Bacio and Castrese Mallardo. The festival will conclude on November 4, also in Lugano, at Federale 1855 with the tenth and final event, Linguaggio di gusto. Headlining the kitchen and pizza counter will be two guest stars: one-Michelin-starred Chef Mariangela Susigan and Pizza Chef Pier Daniele Seu - a 3-Spicchi recipient ranked second in 50 Top Pizza Italy 2026 and fourth in 50 Top Pizza World 2026 - supported by resident Chef Arturo Fragnito and resident Pizza Chef Luca Citterio.
To conclude the inaugural edition, a closing press conference will be held on Wednesday, November 4 at 10:30 AM to share the festival's results and review key achievements. Director Carla Botta will attend alongside featured chefs, sponsors, local institutional representatives, and event partners. (9colonne)
