Cairo – A theoretical and practical workshop exploring photography as a tool for research, observation and visual experimentation, led by Italian photographer and visual artist Jacopo Valentini, has taken place in Cairo. The initiative was organised as part of the EUNIC Residency & Capacity Building Programme 2026, in collaboration with the Downtown Contemporary Arts Festival. Through practical exercises, discussions and individual and group feedback sessions, the 16 participants developed their own photographic language and created visual projects focusing on urban life in Zamalek and Downtown Cairo. From 8 to 10 November, the gallery of the Italian Cultural Institute in Cairo will host a final exhibition showcasing their work in dialogue with the selected exhibition space. The project is funded by the European Union in Egypt, in collaboration with EUNIC Egypt. (9colonne)
