Alessio Pizzicannella: photos from London to Milan

Oct. 24 – Photography is an art, certainly. And a photo camera is much more than a machine for those who are able to capture the nuances rather than the colors, the person rather than the public character. Alessio Pizzicannella is a photographer able to capture the secrets behind the tones. Albeit becoming a photographer “more by chance, because music and traveling – British style – are (his) primary interests,” his art will be on show from November 14 to November 18, during the 4th edition of “Fotografica,” promoted by Canon. His first exhibit, entitled “Just a Shot Away,” will include 100 photographs detailing his path as an artist. In fact, over the past 15 years, Pizzicannella was able to work with musicians and national and international celebrities, becoming an important point of reference in the star system. He lives in London, where he also studied photography, and where in 1996 he began working for New Musical Express, one of the most important musical journals out there. For six years he traveled around the world to meet with musicians and work for international magazines. In Italy, Pizzicannella works with a varied audience: music companies, magazines, and big brands (Danone, Nike, Fiat and Yamaha). “I would be nothing without music, photography is a way to bring music to life,” says Pizzicannella.

“JUST A SHOT AWAY” – THE EXHIBITION

Pizzicannella’s exhibition, Just a Shot Away, includes the most representative of his work during the past 15 years, with photographs of artists such as Radiohead, Rolling Stones, Neil Young, U2, Iggy Pop, Blur, Ozzy Osbourne, BB King, Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, REM, Robbie Williams, Adrien Brody, Oasis, Buddy Guy, Calexico, Sergio Cammariere, Alessandra Amoroso, Carmen Consoli, Charlatans, Coldplay, Snoop Dogg, Cesare Cremonini, Alessandro Del Piero, Pete Doherty, Eels, Ellioth Smith, Esperanza Spalding, Fabri Fibra, Alessandro Gassman, Max Gazze', Gianna Nannini, Gwen Stefani, Incubus, J.R. Lansdale, Mark Lanegan, Alessio Marcuzzi, Valerio Mastandrea, Marco Marngoni, Metallica, Negramaro, Negrita, Patrick Mac Grath, Pink, Max Pezzali, R. Kelly, Francesco Renga, Royksopp, Skin, Sonic Youth, Soulwax, Fabio Volo, Zucchero, and Luciano Ligabue. The show is part of Canon’s initiative “Fotografica,” an essential meeting for those who appreciate or work with photography, to learn about the state of the art and new digital imaging technologies. The event takes place in Plastic, Via Forcella 8 (on the corner with Via Bugatti), in Milan.
